“All of us are better when we’re loved.”

30th April 2013 | Closed

All of us are better when we’re loved. This was the closing sentence from No Great Mischief

written by Alistair Macleod.  It was a great book evoking lots

of emotions about family ties and bonds.  It is a short read but well worth it.

Whispers & Lies

This is the third book that I have read by Joy Fielding. It didn’t have the abused wife or lesbian themes like the first two books that I read but there were the abused and lesbian threads in this one. I think I enjoyed this one the most since it had ‘you never saw it coming’ ending.

Undomestic Goddess

just finished reading this book by Sophie Kinsella. I guess that I am competent enough to be a domestic goddess but not at my idol Martha Stewart level, yet. I do enjoy S.K.’s books. They are entertaining, easy to read and fun. The Shopaholic & Sister book reminded me of what it was like to meet my new found cousin Rosaline, wondering what she would look like only after hearing her on the phone.

Inspiring Italian

Just finished “Evening Class” by Maeve Binchy. Loved it. Now I am inspired to want to learn Italian and to go back again to Italian. And to visit Ireland too.

I’ve noticed that the last four books that I borrowed have been written by Women. And I got a cheap copy of a Kathy Reichs novel that I haven’t read yet. Going to save for the first flight.  Bones, TV show, is based on her novels.

Flipping Pages: library loot

21st June 2007 | 2 Comments

I dropped by the library hoping to get a copy of Men & Demons by Dan Brown. Its the precursor to Da Vinci Code which I really enjoyed. They didn’t have it but I got 1 book by Maeve Binchy/Evening Class, 2 by Sophie Kinsella – The Undomestic Goddess and Shopholic & Sister and 1 by Joy Fielding/Whispers&Lies. Joy Fielding is a Torontonian and featured in Toronto Life so I decided to check her out. Easy read. In her first two books: common threads of abused wife, murder and lesbian lovers. I wondering if this also exists in the 3rd book that I am going to read now. I really should be reading the Japanese tour books that David bought instead.

I usually go to the library after the gym. I notice this weird sensation after being on the treadmill for 35min. When I got off and starting walking, I felt that I was floating off the ground. Must be an after effect from being on the treadmill.
